This super fast animation takes viewers on an overwhelming visual journey through an urban landscape. Combining photography and video, Crosscuts throws the conventional cinematic approach to time and place overboard, replacing our routinely functional and straightforward way of looking at things with an associative and multiplex view.

Tijmen Hauer (1977, Amsterdam, The Netherlands) is an Amsterdam based artist and filmmaker. Since having graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2005 his work has been presented at film festivals and exhibitions around the world. With short films such as I Live Everywhere, Daddy I’m Scared, Talking Heads, Mtv Makes Me Want To Smoke Crack Too, Hit & Run, Oh Great Now Look What Happened and I Didn’t Really Want To Go There, Tijmen Hauer is developing a direct and catchy oeuvre which reflects on contemporary society and the place of the individual within it. Hauer also works as a guest curator for the Filmbank and as a freelance director and editor.

Hiraki Sawa was born in Ishikawa, Japan. He currently lives and works in London. Since 2002, he has exhibited extensively, including solo exhibitions at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Besançon, Besançon, 2010; Yu-un, Tokyo, 2009; Knoxville Museum of Art, Knoxville, 2008; Chisenhale Gallery, London, 2007; National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, 2006; James Cohan Gallery, New York, 2006. Lief Hall, born 1981 in Nelson B.C. Canada, is an audio-visual artist, musician and curator living and working in Vancouver B.C. Hall graduated from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 2005 with a Bachelors Degree in Integrated Media majoring in animation. Since then she has exhibited her video and performance works at such galleries as VIVO, Access Artist Run Centre, The Western Front, Helen Pitt and Truck Gallery. Her latest film 25/27 was part of the Cartune Xprez DVD compilation which toured the United States and Canada. She was the curator of Lucky’s Gallery from 2006-2008 and continues to organize art and music exhibitions independently. Hall’s current musical projects include improvisational sound art trio Glaciers, dark electro duo MYTHS, as well as her solo improvisational vocal works which she has performed at such places as The Western, VIVO, and The Chan Centre. Her current work often merges animation, improvised voice and performance.

This is a personal travesty about choice, about resistance and non-compliance. This is about the banning of a piece of garment regarded ‘Islamic’ by many – the burqa. The burqa has come to symbolize everything that is fearful of one religion. Through this installation I am exploring questions and issues related to the word – CHOICE. Where do I stand in my choosing my own spaces, my own conventions, my own resistances, my identity? What are the choices and how do I stand up to my own convictions as a postcolonial woman who has had the privilege to access education and awareness.The installation consists of a video and text projection on it. This is keeping in tandem with what RAQS Media Collective talks about the art practitioner as a ‘journeywoman’, as the peripatetic who maps an alternative world by her journey through it, who’s first imperative is that of crossing borders and which translates as a skepticism of the rhetoric of bounded identities.

From a very young age,director B.LACH immersed himself in cinema. He made his first step trying his hand at directing music videos, as well as corporate videos and ads. Then he took the bull by the horns and invested in his film career. After a year of working and re-working, he wrote, directed and produced It Takes Balls, staring Antoine Portelance, Tammy Verge and Nicolas Canuel. Today he has in his sights his first feature, his second short and his first TV series.Putting emotion and characters at the centre of all his stories, he despises anything superfluous, choosing instead to focus on the essential, so as to remain as true as possible to his vision. Just as the writer strives to make his reader forget the words as he plunges into the story, B.LACH likes to forget he’s watching a film when he’s watching a film.

Through our films, we create content that is innovative yet meaningful, experimental yet thoughtful and stylistic yet inspirational. We have produced award-winning films on themes of human rights, environment, wildlife and gender and sexuality as well as films for government organizations and corporate firms.Our films have been screened at various international film festivals, leading television networks and global platforms like the UN Convention on Climate Change.
